Name: Sophie De Ville
SU Position: Vice President
Course: REALM
My role on the SU consists mainly of overseeing the rest of the SU to make sure they're all happy in what they're doing, getting across the opinions of the student body to people who can change things, and assisting and filling in for the President whenever she's not there. I also sit on a bi-monthly meeting with the Principal along with the President to go over issues concerning Harper, bascially as a representative of the students. I also attend academic board meetings alongside the academic representative.
I would like to have a wider variety of music and bands on a Wednesday night, so that Wednesdays do not feel repetitive and this will hopefull make Wednesday nights a real success. Also, I would like to see more inter-hall competitions, perhaps with the Harris shield extended throughout the year to make it a year long event, not just a fresher's week event.
Also, alongside inter-hall competitions, more inter-course competitions. These can be incorporated into empty Wednesday afternoons where there is little or no sport fixtures being held. Not only will this be good fun, but promote a healthy competitive edge between courses; perhaps with the lecturers getting involved too!
Course dinenrs have had major issues over the last few years, perhaps it is time to bring these back at a new, mature level once again.
Alternatively, if you would like to know anything about the SU or anything else here at Harper, please feel free to 06002300@harper-adams.ac.uk
and I will do my best to reply.
