**Remember that being on the SU is effectively a job. Each position has varying levels of imput required, on top of SU duties. Speak to the relevant person about the position to see if it is right for you.**
Tips:
1. Speak to the current SU member in office regarding the job; any experience you can gain in the month up to the elections is a big help over any other candidates! Your wardens (who probably have inside knowledge on finickety little things which are good to know) will always have good ideas etc, as they have seen it all before!
2. Promote! If no one knows who you are, why should they vote for you? Posters, banners, (get permission please if intending to hang banners anywhere on campus - see Bryony or Rebecca). Also; T-shirts, flyers have all been done before. And thats standard. Be different. Catch the attention of bored students!
3. Your Election Speech. You will have to do one on your election night. Prepare & Practise! If you can't do a speech in front of several hundred like minded students, how can you be a representative for the students? Stand up and make a difference.
Election results are announced on the night after each set of Elections, in the Main Bar.
Any concerns? worries? nervous? Speak to the SU President about what is fully involved in advance so you can think about everything and make up your mind! Other than that... go for it.
