So here's what a typical week will consist of once the lectures have ended and the evenings have begun... of course, every week is different and it's down to you what you get up too. But this is what the SU provides at the very basic!
|
Film night! In the Lounge Bar on the wide screen, it's a mini cinema! Bring your sticky toffee popcorn, get your hands on a pint/drink/stubbie and enjoy!
A chilled out start to the week and a good end for a Monday.
|
Alternatively, if your up for going out we have Fubar, Central Square in Newport is open from 10pm. Monday nights usually sees hundreds of Harper Students in there for their weekly bash to start off the week.
|

Comedy Night! or Acoustic Night! Either a laugh out loud comedy act or a guest musician, who are always on top form. You cannot beat a quality acoustic session by the legend that is Dunderhill!! Comedy Nights are highly recommended! We are Klang, Rob Deering and other well known names provide quality entertainment.
Like all Uni's, Wednesday afternoons are kept free for sport and non-academic activities. Away or home matches, either way, there's usually a Harper team playing somewhere for you to support on the sidelines.

Wednesday Night. The big one. Compulsory dress up! You must attend! Often mixed with alcohol, if you wish (!!), it is often the unknown bands that get the party started! Whatever your taste, you will be dancing the night away till the weee small hours of the morning.
Remember: no fancy dress = a RAG Fine. Anything from a quid to a fiver! You've been warned!

|
Lounge Bar socials, or a quiet night in, recovering from last night, or working or sleeping, you make Thursdays what it is!
Often an event such as a Pub Quiz will take place or a Beer Festival might occur every once in a while
|
Harper Forum is also usually on at 7pm - an interesting lecture/tutorial related to the land sector - most definitely not like your usual lectures! |
The Student Union General Meetings oftern take place on a Tuesday/Thursday, so check the calendar.
Varies every week, but if theres not something happening at Harper, it's time to check out the Bars & Pubs in Newport!
Either way, your a student! And students are very well known for keeping themselves entertained!
Up for anight out in another town? Try a minibus to Shrewsbury or Stafford, rates vary but you can get a good deal between a group of you. Guaranteed journey back to - piece of mind!
A day of catching-up on some sleep, assignments and doing whatever you wish to do on a Saturday! Personally, I suggest you checkout the links pages and view the Excite Yourself! page - and take your pick!
Whether it's the cinema or snow boarding, surely it's far more exciting than spending all day inside doing assignments!?! Often a lot of the agricultural Students will return home to help out, but only if it's a rest weekend!!
The Royal Vets College, Royal Agricultural College, Scottish Agricultural College, Newcastle and plenty of other Universities often come up/down/side to side for Agric block fixtures - keep an eye out for these as a big name DJ is usually on the cards as a guest DJ on the Saturday night (e.g. Sara Cox)!!
Perhaps that assignment you didn't do yesterday? Or are the parents coming to visit? (dash around, tidy up etc) Whatever you do, get yourself to the RAG Quiz and be entertained! Amusing, raises money for charity and there's often prizes... of sorts!
